Implementing healthier lifestyle | DEXA SCAN

Hello lovely people,

January is finally gone and is the month when everybody starts to realize their new years resolutions. I can’t believe it is already February, and this month has a special place in my hearth because 3 years ago I started my blog, which means soon will be celebrating The One That Travels 3th birthday. One of my resolutions, and not for this year only, but a lifetime wish is to built my lifestyle around healthy food and well – being which can be a little bit overwhelming..  Unhealthy food can be such a temptation and I must admit I have very little self control when it comes to deserts and junk food in general. And it is ok when you can’t stick to some diet or working out routine as long as you don’t give up.
Nowadays with Youtube and social media in general it is easier to educate yourself on how to practice healthy diet and workouts.

If you want to have a fresh start DEXA SCAN  is the first step.  DEXA SCAN measures your body composition and you can track ow much body fat and muscle you have and where. Also DEXA SCAN helps identify patients at high risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures. By monitoring bone density, physicians and patients can assess risk and proactively treat the problem.

A DEXA scan, or dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, uses x ray technology to determine the distribution of lean muscle, fat, water and bone in your body.  The total scan takes about 7 minutes, where you’ll be lying flat on the scanning bed. The DEXA is the ‘gold standard’ body composition testing. It has the greatest precision and shorter scan times.  Unlike any other body composition measuring tool, DEXA results are highly accurate and highly reproducible.

They have facilities in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand so if you are these areas do not hesitate to schedule an appointment.  So for only 7 minutes you are getting more accurate and more reproducible results than any other body composition measurement.

I really wanted to write a post which is inspirational and important for you well-being because for me the one and only trend that stays forever is the health.

Have you done a body scan before or you ever consider doing one. Let me know in the comments below I’m eager to hear your thoughts.

Till next time…

  1. This sounds pretty good – I have Crohn’s Disease and admit that I don’t really take care of myself properly, so something like this would be perfect for keeping track!

    Have a great rest-of-week 🙂

I suspect you have to consult your physician and get a referral for a DEXA scan (I mean, it’s not like a mobile mammogram or heart screening van where you can walk up and get it done without one – right?). I think a lot of us are afraid to suggest what we’d like done to our physicians and we need to be more assertive when we would like something done (hopefully your insurance will agree with you because medical testing isn’t cheap). Thanks so much for providing this information. I’d heard of them but never really thought about getting one. It seems it would be beneficial to insurance companies to pay for this as a screening to fix issues before they become expensive ones.
